The tourist board of Canadian province Ontario has teamed up with outdoor brand Berghaus to promote the region’s opportunities for adventure travellers.
Ontario Tourism has joined with Berghaus to launch a major promotion in the UK, aiming to highlight Ontario’s natural beauty to outdoor enthusiasts. The campaign will commence in February 2012, and will involve print, online and social media promotional activities.
Berghaus has four flagship stores in the UK – London, Manchester, Bristol and Gateshead – and each of these stores will display a giant image of Terrace Bay, found in Thunder Bay in northern Ontario. Thunder Bay is a great destination for hikers and mountain bikers, thanks to its proximity to the Boreal Forest and the mountainous Canadian Shield.
Ontario Tourism said it was “delighted” to have secured a partnership with Berghaus for the campaign.
“They are the ultimate leading outdoor clothing brand,” said Lyndsey Thomas, sales and marketing manager at Ontario Tourism UK. “This campaign will further strengthen Ontario’s position as a premier destination for those looking to experience the great Canadian outdoors,” she added.
Berghaus was founded in 1966, and has been making its own brand of outdoor equipment since 1970, when it launched two backpack designs. The brand now sponsors some of the world’s outdoor sports elite, including climber Leo Holding and mountaineer Mick Fowler.
UK Travellers interested in organising a trip to Ontario can also find out more about the region at the 2012 Adventure Travel Show in London on 28 and 29 January.
