British Airways Cancels All Short Haul Flights from Heathrow

Heathrow Snow Update: A spokesman for Heathrow has issued an apology to passengers left stranded by the show after it announced that all BA short haul flights from the airport have been cancelled. More snow is on the way with staff struggling to clear the one runway that is still open. British Airways cancelled all flights at noon today after snow problems were predicted to continue over the course of the day. The Airport Operator BAA has stated that they are trying to clear the snow however based on the current conditions the process is set to take a significant amount of time. In a statement released by BAA chief executive Colin Mathews he explains that
‘I’m really disappointed to have disrupted so many thousands of people’s Christmas plans. It’s absolutely distressing and heart-breaking to have been in the terminals and confronted with individuals, each with their stories of really sad and disappointing outcomes. I couldn’t be more sorry, that’s the case.’

Passengers are still advised to contact their airlines before travelling; other European airports are also suffering due to the bad weather. One positive update is that Gatwick Airport is up and running as normal however there are some knock on delays.
