The Maldives has again been voted the most-desirable holiday destination for Brits in the annual poll conducted by tour operator Kuoni.
Other destinations cited in the list of desirable destinations included Thailand in second place and Sri Lanka as the third most desirable destination. The United Arab Emirates came in as the fourth most popular dream destination, with the USA taking the fifth spot.
Kuoni’s Travel Trends Report also looks into a variety of other travel sectors, including honeymoon destinations (also topped by the Maldives), solo travel destinations and also adventure holiday destinations. Sri Lanka came out on top as the most popular destination for weddings abroad, while solo travellers opted instead for Thailand’s great value and wealth of attractions.
Travellers looking for an eco-friendly trip should take a look at the Governors Main Camp in Kenya, which was voted as the top destination in the ‘Planet Friendly’ holiday. Social responsibility emerged as one of four key areas seeing significant growth in the travel industry, alongside travellers wanting more adventure in their holidays and a more authentic experience while travelling. Face to face contact with experts when booking a trip was also cited as being in growing demand.
