In a new campaign to encourage people to visit California, a familiar ‘beach babe’ launched the search to find a member of the public to star alongside celebrities in the ‘California Calling’ advertisements. Pamela Anderson has joined a growing list of celebrities that are featured in the well known campaigns to highlight the fantastic tourist features of this sun filled American state. Now ‘California Calling’ is looking for a member of the UK public to star alongside Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rob Lowe and David Beckham in the popular television advert.
Members of the public are invited to audition for this role by uploading YouTube videos to the ‘California calling’ website, entrants have to explain in their own unique way why they should join the list of advocates for California tourist. The winner will be chose via public vote and announced in March 2010.
Caroline Beteta, the CEO of California Travel & Tourism Commission and national chair of US Travel Association states that ‘California is a favourite destination for UK travellers who enjoy our relaxed lifestyle, amazing climate, natural beauty, iconic cities, and of course – Hollywood’. The advertisement campaign has already attracted thousands of people to look into California holidays; the inclusion of such famous names has only strengthened this tourism campaign.
‘California Calling’ are expecting a large amount of entries for this fantastic once in a lifetime opportunity. Caroline Beteta adds that ‘California Calling is a shot at fame for people who love California and can demonstrate they have the right star appeal to join the celebrities in our UK television ad. The search is on for a new star in the UK, and we look forward to seeing some imaginative entries demonstrating what California represents to the British public’.
