Luxurious resorts on the island destination of Cyprus are attracting their fair share of celebrity guests from the UK and further afield, according to the Cyprus Tourism Organisation.
A variety of pop stars, Royal Family members, musicians and TV personalities have chosen the Greek island resort recently for a secluded break in the sun. The resort of Paphos in the south west of the island has been a particular favourite among the celebrities, with TV presenter and actress Denise van Outen having been spotted holidaying at the city’s luxurious Elysium Hotel.
England and Manchester United footballer Rio Ferdinand recently enjoyed a relaxing break at the same hotel complex as van Outen, taking along fellow footballing friend and Swansea City player Ashley Williams.
Prince Harry was required to complete his military dive training in Cyprus recently, and while on the island he took the chance to enjoy the fine cuisine on offer at the Columbus beachside resort. Other famous faces recently known to have holidayed on Cyprus include veteran singer Rod Stewart, Simply Red frontman Mick Hucknall, US rocker Bryan Adams and singer-songwriter James Blunt.
The resort of Limassol also had its fair share of attention from celebrity sun seekers, with actress Barbara Windsor spending time at the town’s Le Meridien Spa and Resort. Football WAG Colleen Rooney was also know to have stayed at the same facility. UK pop sensation Peter Andre completed the list of Cyprus celebs, making regular trips to stay in a villa near the popular resort of Larnaca.
The Cyprus Tourism Organisation also took the chance to point out the island suitability for late summer and autumn breaks, thanks to the possibility of temperatures reaching as high as 30 degrees centigrade.
