January 24th will see the opening event of the annual Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, it is staged in the Jamaica Pegasus hotel which is located in Kingston. TurnKey productions are the driving force behind the event as many of their signed artists will perform whilst the also do their best to attract some more well known faces.
The Jamaica Pegasus will transform itself into a very suitable venue to cater for both star acts and the many members of the audience anticipated. The show itself will have Jazz and Soul star Roy Ayers, Tony Greene and Ricardo Suave. Ayers is known as the Godfather of neo Soul and he continues to bring his music to many generations of music fans. Now in his forth decade as a recording artist he has managed to become an Iconic figure in his music genre having only recently recorded a song with Talib Kweli, which was produced by none other than Kanye West.
The festival will be a seven day celebration which will be full of song and dance practically none stop. The event will move from the hotel to the Trelawny Stadium where most of the headline acts will perform. This year’s main acts will include Gladys Knight, Joss Stone, Billy Ocean, Caribbean Jewel and reggae group Third World. Previous years have seen Alicia Keys and Kenny Rogers take to the stage, these acts go a long way to show how important and popular this even is as it regularly attracts international stars to come and light up Jamaica’s biggest music festival.
