Rise in last minute bookings

graphAfter all hopes of a ‘barbecue summer’ have been washed away, us Brit’s are rushing to get last minute holidays to enjoy some summer sun.

August is now set to be wet and miserable and operators have seen a large increase in the number of last minute bookings being made. 56mm of rain are expected to fall in August, compared to only 6mm in hot destinations.

There are a number of holiday deals on offer at the moment so you can find some brilliant last minute offers. Some ABTA members have reported a 30% increase in business over the past 2-week period and a 40% increase from this time last year.

Many parents are booking holidays in a bid to keep the children busy as there are still a few weeks left of the summer holidays.
