New Years Eve is one of the most popular times for people to book a celebratory break. A new list based on holiday bookings has been compiled to find 2009’s best places to see in the New Year. From exotic beaches to capital cities or even something completely different, here are the top ten places to welcome in 2010.
London tops the lists for British travellers; the New Years Eve firework display is not to be missed along with one of the many theatre options that the city offers. Paris is another popular spot; the French capital is a magical place to spend New Year’s Eve with a spectacular light show at the Eiffel Tower. For travellers wanting to head further afield Sydney is the third most popular NYE destination. With a warm climate, it is a refreshing change to the cold winter months. Edinburgh follows Sydney and provides one of the most traditional and famous NYE celebrations in the world; Hogmanay. The festivities are spread across a number of days, continuing into the start of January.
One of the more expensive options this NYE is a trip to New York City, Times Square is the centre of the action with thousands of people watching the ball descend. Prague comes in next closely followed by Rome, two cheaper options for a fantastic European NYE adventure. Berlin and Istanbul take 8th and 9th place, with the list topped by Britain’s own, Blackpool.
The list is compiled through search enquiries and bookings for worldwide NYE destinations.
