Holidays for your furry friends
A Czech tour agency has launched the world’s first holidays for cuddly toys. For just 90 Euro you can send your favourite furry friend to Prague for a week long break, receiving daily updates and photos of the trip. In recent time the Czech Republic has suffered a sharp decline in tourism, with a 20% decline over the past year. Prague based entrepreneur Tomio Okamura created the concept of teddy bear tourism as a welcome breath of fresh air to a dwindling market. Tomio explains that “There are 1.2 billion teddy bears around the world, which is of course a very big group of potential clients,” The business man owns a highly successful tour company and is vice president of the Czech Association of Travel Agencies.
The company ‘Toy Travelling’ was launched this week offering a range of packages for your favourite cuddly toy. The basic package starts at 90 Euros which includes accommodation, a photo album and daily emails. A more expensive option includes candle lit dinners and even a massage under the famous Charles Bridge. The idea was first introduced on the Czech equivalent to the hit show ‘Dragon’s Den’ in which businessmen pitch their innovative ideas to potential financial investors. Tomio, a panellist on the show agreed to fund the business explaining that cuddly toys play a major part our lives.
Toy Travelling has already received a large amount of bookings and intend on expanding the travel options to include Munich, Berlin, Budapest and Bratislava, Rio, Tokyo and fifty other destinations.
