In a recent survey by Visit Wales, it shows that almost all of the countries visitors would recommend the country and return soon for another break. With many people suffering from the recent economic crisis, it seems that many opted to stay closer to home and enjoy a break in the Welsh countryside.
In the survey, the welcome that visitors are given and the friendliness of the people are listed among the best factors about a holiday in Wales. 90% of visitors would recommend Wales as a fantastic destination for family and friends, the overall rating from the survey gave Wales a highly respectable 4.5 out of 5.
The survey included tourists enjoying a summer holiday, day trippers and those intending to stay for a longer period of time. When questioned about their break, the majority stated that they had gained a very positive impression of the country.
One of the main factors in Wale’s success is the landscape, with almost two thirds of the survey takers rating the coastline and scenery as their favourite aspect of their break. The Minister for Heritage, Alun Ffred Jones stated that he was ‘delighted and encouraged by the positive responses of the Wales Survey’. He went on to say that the survey showed the friendliness of the people of Wales and the importance of surveys to make sure that they maintain this high standard.
Dewi Davis, the director of the Tourism Partnership North Wales adds that ‘It reflects that people escape to Wales for short break holidays and outdoor experiences because of the fantastic landscape we have’.
