Travellers thinking of booking a trip to New York this autumn might want to tie their visit in with some of the city’s renowned Halloween celebrations towards the end of October.
All five boroughs of Brits’ favourite US destination will be hosting some weird and wacky events to celebrate the year’s spookiest holiday. While many events are aimed at families, there are also a few to appeal to the more hardcore horror fans wanting to travel to New York to see the best the city has to offer them.
At the heart of the celebrations will be the annual New York Village Halloween Parade, which organisers boldly describe as “the nation’s most wildly creative public participatory event in the greatest city in the world.” The parade welcomes all revellers, as long as they attired in suitably spooky or bizarre costumes, joining the crowd of thousands to enjoy puppets, bands, dancers and artists as they move down 6th Avenue.
Many of New York’s bars and restaurants will be putting on special nights for Halloween, including the annual Joonbug Masquerade Halloween Ball at Capitale, where celebrities can be spotted enjoying a Halloween night out in style. Previous guests include Heidi Klum, Sean Diddy Combs and Jay Z, and the multi-room party in the Beaux-Arts themed venue is enough to keep anyone entertained.
Mars 2112 will be hosting a Halloween on Mars evening, and promises to be the “most over the top and exciting Halloween party in Manhattan.” The restaurant, themed around trips into space, will offer six bars spread over two levels and music by DJ Phresh and other guest performers.
