Cala Ratjada Overview

Cala Ratjada Holidays from CheapHolidays.com.

Leaving Son Sant Joan International Airport, it will take you around an hour and a half to reach the resort of Cala Ratjada, but fear not as you’ll be blessed with a pleasant, scenic journey.

Popular with families this resort has plenty to offer with hotels in the area mainly ranging between 3-4 stars and all providing top facilities and services.

The resort attracts large groups of singles during the peak season, mainly July and August, because of it buzzing nightlife.

Cala Ratjada was originally a small fishing village before the boom of tourism over the decades and still retains a lot of its traditional features such as its original harbour.

Public transport is available if you want to travel to other areas of the island.

Cala Ratjada – Fun and Activities

imageWith different people heading to Cala Ratjada for different reasons the resort is forced to cater for everyone, and it does so very well.

Activities range from tennis, horse-riding, hiking and golf. If you’re heading to the beach then there is a host of things you can get up to such as windsurfing, jet skiing, banana boat rides or even a spot of beach volley ball. If all that seems a little effort then just rub in a bit of factor 30 and lay under the sun on some of the highest quality beaches you will come across, many awarded the Blue Flag from the European Union for their cleanliness and safety.

On top of all that there is plenty of sightseeing to be done and with a trip of the nearby lighthouse you will uncover some truly astonishing views. It is also worthwhile to pay a visit to the medieval castle at Capdepera.

Cala Ratjada – Food and Nightlife

image Cala Ratjada is packed with restaurants, all reasonably priced, and you’ll be able to find what cuisine best fits your pallet with a whole host of international menus available such as Italian, Mexican, Spanish, English, Indian and Chinese to name a few. There are a few fast food places around and about for good measure.

The resort isn’t short of a bar or two either! Pick up a cocktail from the various bars providing various types of music, either way you’ll find a good time. While the bars are open till late, to really extend your night you can fund foam parties and laser shows in nearby clubs for great entertainment.

If that is still not enough you may need to head to other areas of the island such as Magaluf or the islands capital Palma.

Cala Ratjada Weather and Climate

In the summer Cala Ratjada offers luxurious weather so tourists can lounge around and soak up the sun. Temperatures during peak months July and August will hit as high as 30°C at times, though if that is a little much for some perhaps planning a holiday in April would better suit with the temperatures slightly lower.

The waters around the coast are seemingly always at a good temperature to take a dip and a paddle. Winter see’s low temperatures but still enough sun that people still holiday in that period, but there are less numbers which appeals to some people as things become a lot quieter and relaxing.
