Many of the accommodation complexes in Carvoeiro have plenty of sporting facilities such as tennis and golf so sports enthusiasts have something to do. A nearby riding school tends to be popular with both adults and children as it is something different that many people would not think of doing on holiday. A popular attraction is the Algar Seco rock formations. The site is very historical and many people visit the formations everyday. There are also plenty of excursions for you to go on. These include visiting the chapel in Lagos, climbing cliff tops, visiting the Monchique Mountains, visiting Silves castle and 12th century cathedral, going on boat trips from Praia da Rocha, going to the market in Loule, going on a jeep safari or going shopping and sightseeing in Lisbon.

Carvoeiro is home to some brilliant restaurants offering various cuisines. There are both local traditional cuisines and international cuisines. You will find seafood, Chinese, Portuguese, Indian, British, French and Italian cuisines in many restaurants. There are plenty of bars for you to choose from in Carvoeiro and some have live music and entertainment to keep you amused in the evening. There are only a few souvenir shops in Carvoeiro but many food stores which is good for the people staying on a self-catering board basis. There is a regular bus service into Lagos from Carvoeiro and from here you can get buses to other major resorts. Taxis are usually found in the main square.
Carvoeiro Weather and Climate
The weather in Carvoeiro is what attracts to many people each year. The summers in Carvoeiro are long and dry with winters continuing to stay mild with limited rainfall. July and August are the hottest months in Carvoeiro with average temperatures reaching 30°C. You will also find up to 12 hours of sunshine a day meaning you have plenty of time to enjoy the day. The coastal breezes tend to keep the temperatures slightly lower to enable you to feel more comfortable in the heat. The spring and autumn is still warm with temperatures at 17-19°C. The coldest winter months are January and December although the temperature is till at around 15°C. There is also still around 6 hours of sunshine a day. From November to March is when most of the rainfall comes however on average there are only around 50 days of rainfall a year.
