The city of Ciutadella is one of the most popular resorts of the island of Menorca and can be found bursting with fun and excitement from dusk till dawn. The transfer time from International Aeropuerto de Menorca is around 3 quarters of an hour which gives you a great chance to become accustomed to the surrounding area of your resort, but also to see the island’s beautiful scenery.

One thing worth mentioning is that despite the cities huge popularity it doesn’t have its own beach. This strange fact doesn’t, however, repel visitors as the busy resort offers a lot in other areas. The transport system on the island practically runs through Ciutadella and as a result there are many easily accessible nearby resorts with beaches to go and visit.

The accommodations in the area are very nice indeed as well as being affordable and this is represented in the star ratings ranging from 2 to 5 stars, many offering self catering or all inclusive services and top quality facilities to suit all.

Ciutadella – Fun and Activities

Family on holiday Despite having no beach on the resort of Ciutadella it does offer many water sport activities for all the family to have a go at. The options of water based fun are swimming, windsurfing, sailing or even snorkelling and of course to lounge around on a beach all day. It would require a short trip however, to a close by coastal resort.

The buzzing city has many fiestas going at different times, where locals celebrate the history and culture of Ciutadella and tourists are welcomed to join in the festivities.

You can also go on many boat trips where you can be shown the marine life in the Mediterranean or take a cruise down the coast uncovering and visiting coves and beaches along the way. There are walking trails to follow to see the great scenic landscape, bird watching trips organised so you can get some great pictures of the local wildlife and also a race track were people often go to have a horse ride or two. The island has its own golf course, Son Parc, where many opt to spend the majority of the days under the sun.

The shoppers will have much to choose from in Ciutadella as it offers many top brand labels for clothing, bags and jewellery. There are many souvenir and craft shops to pick up gifts for the folk back home too.

Ciutadella – Food and Nightlife

Couple on an all inclusive holiday Ciutadella has a wide variety of cuisine with different restaurants offering dishes from a number of traditional nationalities such as British, Chinese, Spanish and Italian, not to mention the many first rate seafood restaurants you can find.

The nightlife is top notch in the city with a whole load of bars to take your pick from and they offer karaoke and live music most nights. You can find traditional pubs here, there and everywhere also and discos where you can dance the night away.

Ciutadella Weather and Climate

Coming to Ciutadella you will not only be spoilt for choice when it comes to food, activities and nightlife but you will be lucky enough to see some of Europe’s finest weather. The summer season can be easily identified by the blue cloudless skies and the endless hours of sunshine. The hot, hot heat can see temperatures go as high as 30°C but there is a welcome breeze that blows in off the Mediterranean Sea that is very enjoyable. You will be unlucky to experience rain whilst in Ciutadella but if you do it will be brief.

The winter months see temperatures halved and the number of hours per day go down to around 5. There will a little rain from time to time but the warm climate see’s things clear up very quickly when it does.

You can expect the hot weather to pick back up in March time as the island prepares itself for another scorching summer.
