San Antonio - Where Ibiza Comes Alive!

Ibiza is known as one of Europe’s party destinations, particularly the San Antonio resort which is extremely popular with young tourists. Famous for its thriving nightlife, San Antonio is filled with bars and nightclubs which bring the resort to life. For those looking for a lively, fun filled Ibiza holiday, this resort is definitely a perfect choice. Some may be surprised to hear that San Antonio is also very popular with families due to the wide range of activities and attractions that are available for both adults and children.

There are a few sandy beaches within the resort, however visitors may wish to take a ferry to the nearby Cala Conta, Cala Bassa and Cala Tarida beaches which are much larger. With a large selection of accommodation to suit every budget including hotels, apartments and hostels, San Antonio is a resort that caters for all.

San Antonio does offer something for everyone, the pre and post season months are popular with couples and families wanting a more relaxed experience in the resort. During these months the beaches are less crowded and visitors can sightsee at a leisurely pace. The high season runs from July to September, this is when most young travellers arrive to take advantage of the vibrant nightlife. San Antonio – Plenty of Daytime Adventures

There really is no limit the amount of things to do during the day whilst on a San Antonio holiday. A full selection of water sports are available including snorkelling, paragliding and even taking a ride on one of the famous banana boats! For those that like to stick to dry land, horse riding is available for adults and children, complete with qualified guides. There are also chances to try mini-golf, go-carting and cycling across the resort. Adrenaline seekers can take advantage of the bungee jumping and parascending opportunities available throughout around the resort.

There is a wide selection of shops around the resort selling everything from clothing to traditional souvenirs. A short trip into Ibiza town will lead visitors to shops selling the latest fashions that don’t close until midnight during the peak summer season.

There are medical centres which are open for emergencies 24 hours a day and several banks around the resort. There are two weekly markets within the resort, one for fresh produce and the other selling various holiday trinkets.

San Antonio - Vibrant Nightlife

When the sun goes down, San Antonio really comes alive with everything from cocktail bars to foam parties. Many of the clubs do not close till 6am with many boasting visits from top world class DJ’s. Many hotels also offer entertainment that is more focused on families with live music and impressive shows. The main area for bars and clubs is named the ‘West End’ with the two biggest clubs being Es Paradis and Eden, the latter of which offers a twice weekly water party which see’s the dance floor being turned into a swimming pool.

The San Antonio resort is only a short drive away from Ibiza town which is also well known for its exciting nightlife, particularly the club Privilege which is the world’s largest nightclub. Public transport is excellent between the two resorts with buses running into the night.

In true Spanish style, San Antonio is home to a spectacular fiesta. The San Antonio Festival runs from the 17th to the 24th of August which culminates with a vibrant fireworks display. San Antonio is also a fantastic place to sample local cuisine and take advantage of the Sangria which can be found in all restaurants and bars. Many restaurant offer excellent locally sourced seafood which is always worth a try! Many hotels offer different cuisine choices including Italian, British and Chinese.

For those that want to explore the history of the resort, the older part of town contains a 16th century church and a traditional fishing village. The Old Town area is a must-see especially the lively harbour and whitewashed house that line the cobbled street. There are two statues in San Antonio that are fantastic for photo opportunities! The Christopher Columbus Monument stands in honour of the famous explorer and the famous Statue of Christ which is one of Ibiza’s most famous landmarks built soon after the Spanish civil war.

San Antonio - Weather and Climate

For those looking for a sun drenched Ibiza holiday, San Antonio is the place to be. With blue skies and sunshine it is definitely a good destination for those wanting to top up their tans. The heat goes on into the night due to the vast amount of people that are filling the streets till the early morning.

The winter months do bring in a slight chill so it is recommended that visitors take a jacket or other warm clothing. The hours of sunshine also decrease during the winter months so it is best to take advantage of the sun whilst it’s out! The warmest month is August, which is also the busiest.
