Camp De Mar – Southwest Corner of Majorca
This resort is found on an island that is very much family orientated as well as being suitable for couples who come for a relaxing getaway from the world. The resort is fairly small so it’s ideal for couples and families not wanting to trek too far to get to places before their feet ache and the kids start to get a little restless.
With a 45 minute transfer from Son Sant Joan International Airport and with this time you should take advantage of the chance to look at the glorious natural beauty that the area is blessed with. This is also a good chance to become familiar with the geography of your resort.
Camp de Mar has a beach with fantastic golden sands as well as clear blue waters and they are more than safe for the kids to splash around in. There is a lot to do in the resort so you don’t have to worry about the little ones getting restless.
The accommodation in the area is very good and you will find most hotels hitting the 4 star mark.
Camp De Mar – Fun and Activities
With much to do to keep the whole family occupied Camp de Mar is a very desirable holiday resort. Beach activities are a given on all shores of the island and here there is no difference, and you will be able to find things such as snorkelling, windsurfing, scuba diving or go for a ride on a pedelo. There’s also a glass bottom boat ride to go on where you can spot the tropical marine life that inhabit the local waters.
More inland activities include cliff top walks where you can get a great vantage point and see some of the fantastic sights that Camp de Mar has to offer.
There is a local golf course nearby where many play their holidays away to the worlds most laid back sport. The Golf de Andratx is one of 6 championship standard golf course on the island.
A sea life park is on the island and on this excursion you will be able to catch a catch a glimpse of Dolphins and Sharks among others.
The area has a few souvenir shops available on the resort, though I would recommend taking a trip to the island’s capital Palma with the use of a very good public transport system where there is more on offer for happy shoppers.
If you are very lucky and you manage to time your holiday right you could catch a glimpse of a Hollywood A-list celeb like Tom Cruise or Claudia Schiffer who own villas in the area.
Camp De Mar – Food and Nightlife
Because Camp de Mar is a fairly small resort the nightlife in the area is somewhat limited, perhaps the best form of entertainment will come from the hotels who do provide live music shows and other things family based. You could take a trip to neighbouring resorts to give a bit more life to your night, but if you are attracted to Camp de Mar it probably isn’t for the nightlife.
There are a decent number of good restaurants available and they offer a good variety of traditional cuisines such as Italian, French, English and typical Mediterranean dishes.
Camp De Mar - Weather Info
The great weather in Camp de Mar is best enjoyed on the beach where hot weather will maintain itself through the 11 hours of sunshine a day during the summer months. The peak summer months fall between July and August where you can expect little to no rain.
Winter will be quite different and the closer it gets to December the more you should be packing a few jackets if you are taking a trip at that time of year. That being said you are always guaranteed some warm sunlight at points of the day whatever the time of year in Camp de Mar.
