Guard tower Alcaufar in Menorca

Alcaufar – South of Menorca

This small village is a great place for people who are going on holiday to just sit back and relax. The resort offers a small stretch of beach that has golden sands and shallow crystal clear waters that are perfectly safe for children to play in. The surrounding area is full of fantastic views that are only a walk away in any direction. This quiet resort is ideal for families who want a calm retreat but there are nearby resorts that offer a late night for couples.

You can expect quick transfers as the Aeropuerto de Menorca is located very close. The accommodation in the area is mainly villas this is due to the family orientated tourists, although there is one hotel available.

Alcaufar – Fun & Activities

The cove beach is very safe for children and swimmers who aren’t too confident and there are rocks that line the perimeter. The beach is great for snorkelling because it remains shallow quite far out. The area is blessed with picturesque scenery and many people go hiking around the local area to see some of the truly fantastic and stunning sights that Alcaufar has.

If you want to experience a great amount of activities then Alcaufar won’t be able to provide too much as the resort only provides the relaxing atmosphere and great weather, so the fun is expected to be your job. That is why it is strongly recommended to hire a car in order to travel to other resorts on the island that have more water sports available along with other activities. This should not be a shock to tourists because most people who travel to Alcaufar fully understand this.

Shopping is limited so you will only be able to purchase the essentials, for a better shopping experience including jewellery and top brand labels you will need to travel to Mahon.

Alcaufar – Food & Nightlife

There is only one hotel in the region so unless you stay there you will be self-catering in a villa and will be expected to provide your own food. There is one restaurant in the village that offers mainly traditional dishes so unless you like Mediterranean foods you’re going to want to buy a few ingredients to cook in your accommodation, failing that travel to a nearby resort that will offer more traditional style menus.

The nightlife is as everything else, extremely limited, the only entertainment available is at the one hotel in the resort. There is also one bar that has karaoke nights from time to time but for a later and livelier night you will want to head into the likes of Mahon.

Alcaufar – Weather Info

The one thing that Alcaufar does offer is fantastic weather all year round and a perfect quaint beach to enjoy it from. The summer is best enjoyed between the months June till September where the sunlight during the day maintains the longest, around 10 hours.

The winter will see temperatures drop but still the weather will be mild. If you aren’t travelling during the peak summer months then you may experience some rainfall but it will be brief and clear up fairly swiftly.
