Cala'n Blanes - Western Tip of Menorca
Cala’n Blanes is one resort that is alive and kicking, considered one of the liveliest resorts on the island. Although Cala’n Blanes is still more of a family resort couples do tend to make the journey for the relaxing daytimes with the ability to party into the night as well.
Menorca has beautiful scenery around the island and some areas have great natural qualities and although the transfer time from the International Aeropuerto de Menorca is a little over an hour, it gives you the perfect chance to take in some of the sights. This time can also be used to invest in some knowledge of the location for future reference.
Cala’n Blanes beach has crystal clear waters that rub up against nice white sands and overlooking that is the accommodation in the area that ranges between 2-4 stars with mainly apartments available, though there are hotels and villas. The large town of Ciutadella, the former capital of the island, is close to Cala’n Blanes.
Cala'n Blanes – Fun and Activities
With Cala’n Blanes being such a popular resort it is to be expected that there are a lot of activities to do to pass the time. Head to the beach and there you will find more than a sun lounger, the water sports include snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, surfing, jet-skiing, parasailing and water-skiing.
If you haven’t got the strongest stomach for sea based activities and prefer more land based fun then you will be well looked after. There are good excursions to see the historical monuments across the island. There is a local race track so you can go see if you fancy a flutter on the 3.15.
With public travel very good on the island you’ll be able to get easy travel to nearby resorts and visit other towns and see what they have to offer; Ciutadella is one worth going to see. In Ciutadella you can expect to find designer labels and quality local crafts on sale.
Cala'n Blanes – Food and Nightlife
This busy resort caters well for its tourists and has adopted enough variety so people are kept well fed. The menus you will come across will feature British, Italian and Spanish dishes. There are also many seafood based restaurants available plus snack bars for those who aren’t too hungry. You could travel around the island to find other restaurants but I would imagine most people will find something they like in Cala’n Blanes, such as the options on offer. There are many British brand based supermarkets if some people are going self-catering.
The nearby resort of Los Delfines would be the best place to visit for nightlife with bars, pubs and clubs available. There will be karaoke nights on as well in some of the bars. There is a decent nightlife in Cala’n Blanes, but perhaps for an extended night you can head to Los Delfines.
