Playa Del Ingles - Escape on Holiday
Named as the "English mans beach", thankfully there is good reason why thousands book holidays to Playa del Ingles from the UK or travel back to this island year after year.
Located in the south of the Gran Canaries, this island cannot be beaten for its weather and great value all year round.
The beaches stretch for miles and from Playa del ingles right through to the Maspalomas dunes.
There are numerous beach side bars and restaurants to keep you amused where we suggest eating after you try your hand at any of the number of water sports on offer.
Families, older visitors and young people alike will find year round sunshine and upon sunset there are many bars, restaurants and nightclubs where the party goes on until the early hours especially for the 18-30 crowd. However even if you're not a night owl you will find plenty of activities to keep you entertained such as water parks, museums, golf, safaris and why not try big game fishing or a trip to the Crocodile park.
This resort has a huge selection of accommodation on offer from self catering up to all inclusive options; shoppers will be kept busy with duty free delights. Great food is always on offer from Spanish tapas to UK favorites such as Indian and Chinese so going hungry won’t be an option.
Things to See & Visit on Your Trip
Playa Del Ingles holidays offer such a variety of things to do for families with children, along with some great museums for the more cultured traveler. However be aware that young people flock to this island in numbers so if you are expecting a more reserved destination maybe check out our offers to the other Canary Islands.
For families why not spend the day at the Camel Safari Park La Baranda, with water rides, around 70 Camels and a small zoo which is sure to keep the children busy. Once you’re tired of soaking up the sun why not try your hand at windsurfing - the best waves tend to break on western end of Maspalomas or if you prefer to stay on land you can always cycle there with cycle tours or traditional bike hire.
There are also some great shopping opportunities and we would suggest waiting to buy until you’ve been to the larger malls in the north San Fernando and Bellavista as you may find it cheaper than the promenades.
If you want something different check out Palmitos Park with its subtropical with exotic Flora alongside an aquarium, reptile house, petting farm and over 1500 species of exotic birds. It’s located in the North of the island and easily accessible via Bus from various stops in Playa Del Ingles.
Climate and Weather
As the temperature is fairly consistent throughout the year, you are more than likely to need lots of sun protection and some light clothes on your trip to Playa Del Ingles. However there are a few months of the year when it gets a bit chillier (mainly from November to January) so this is a good time to pack some warmer clothes for the evenings. It does rain from time to time however the rain doesn’t often last for very long; so no need to bring a brolly!
