You can enjoy various sports whilst in Vilamoura with the most popular being tennis and golf, there are plenty of courses and courts where you can play either. Many hotels will offer tennis to its residents and those who want to play a few holes of golf can choose from the 5 clubs around Vilamoura. The other sports on offer include squash, lawn bowling and clay pigeon shooting. The surrounding area is very beautiful and people tend to go cycling in an attempt to view Vilamoura’s great natural scenery.
Sightseeing excursions will take tourists to see the ruins of an ancient Roman city located nearby, jeep safaris and tours along the coast going into Spain and the other way going as far as Lisbon. Whilst on these excursions you may want to enjoy a little shopping, especially whilst in Lisbon as there will be plenty of designer boutiques to choose from. Shopping in Vilamoura is limited to clothes and the odd souvenir shop.

At night you can choose from a number of bars that are located near the marina and you can enjoy a nice sunset with a cocktail. There are various live shows in hotels and bars at night offering good family entertainment. The resort also has a few clubs to choose from for tourists who are looking for a late night dancing.

The weather in Vilamoura stands out as one of the top reasons why people choose the resort as their holiday destination. Over summer the temperatures average around over 25°C. The hottest summer months are July and August where the temperatures go over 30°C and there is 12 hours of sunshine each day to enjoy this heat. A cool breeze that blows in from the Atlantic Ocean is very welcoming when the heat feels like it’s about to get a bit too much. You can enjoy long days of clear blue skies so that by the time you get home you will have forgotten what a cloud is.
The winters in Vilamoura are still quite warm and the temperatures shouldn’t fall below 15°C, although it probably won’t go too much higher. You can still enjoy 6 hours of sunshine and not a great deal of rain. The month of March tends to experience the most rain over the course of the year in the resort.
