Roquetas de Mar – Southern Coast of Spain
Based in Costa de Almeria the resort of Roquetas de Mar is a very popular holiday destination, specifically with families and couples. Over summer you can expect many people coming to the resort to relax on Spain’s south coast, and what better way than on the glorious long beach that is on offer which has plenty of room for everyone. The transfer from Almeria Airport is quite swift taking only 45 minutes due to the close location of Roquetas de Mar to the airport. You can use the time you are travelling to your advantage by taking in some of the great scenery in the surrounding area.

Roquetas De Mar – Fun & Activities
With fine sands you can expect to find a great place to lie down and relax for the long parts of your holiday, enjoying the great weather. The atmosphere is easy going and very peaceful but as with most beach resorts you can expect plenty of activities on offer to liven things up. You can expect great water sports such as water skiing, jet skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving and windsurfing.
Away from the beach you will find plenty of things to get up to still, like go-karting or head to the Aquarium or even Mario Park which is a nearby water park and is very popular with children.
You can go on plenty of excursions around Costa de Almeria and visit other towns for the day, and enjoy the activities and things they have to offer. A popular excursion is visiting the Tabernas desert which is located close by. If shopping excursions are more your thing then you’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of shops to buy clothes, jewellery and souvenirs. There are even a couple of casinos to spend your money on if shopping isn’t enough.

There are loads of great places to go and eat within Roquetas de Mar and plenty of typical cuisines many have come to expect in holiday resorts such as British, Italian, Spanish and Chinese restaurants. Closer to the seafront you can expect to find a few fine seafood restaurants that offer a little variety.
There is plenty of late night entertainment on offer in Roquetas de Mar including bars serving cocktails and offering karaoke nights, along with plenty of live entertainment also. Many hotels offer good shows on an evening as well, each being different of course. For late nights you can find a couple of night clubs to dance the night away or as previously mentioned head to the casino for an alternative night.

Roquetas de Mar boasts some of the finest weather within the Mediterranean Sea, and of course this it mostly the case during the summer season. During the peak months of June through to September you can expect the sun to shine constantly, in fact you would be unlucky to experience any rain or clouds at all during summer. The temperatures can go as high as 30°C which is a key reason to why so many people choose Roquetas de Mar.
Over winter the sun won’t shine as constantly but it will still come through. There will be more rainfall during these months also, but with temperatures averaging around 16°C things will clear up well enough. Roquetas de Mar is popular all year round and this is no surprise with its continuous warm climate.
