Playa de Aro – North Eastern Coast of Spain

Playa de Aro is the ideal destination for families and couples looking to relax in warm Mediterranean surroundings. This fun family orientated location has plenty for all the family to do as well as offering a mile of beach on the shore with fine sands and warm blue waters.

You can expect a very quick transport from Girona-Costa Brava Airport taking just over 30 minutes to get to Playa de Aro. Located in the north of Spain you can expect much natural plantation which makes the scenery very picturesque, something that you can enjoy during the transfer to your accommodation.

There are many fine places to choose from when planning your holiday to Playa de Aro including 2 to 3 star hotels which cater very well for families, offering modern facilities and services. Most of the accommodation is well located within the resort too. There are some privately owned apartments available also, but it would require you to get in touch with the owners to organise booking a room.

You will find a great public transport system which offers regular buses that will take you to nearby resorts. There are plenty of taxis around the resort too which offer reasonable rates for travel.

Playa De Aro – Fun & Activities

The beach is the most popular place to be in any coastal resort and Playa de Aro is no different. The long beach has enough room for everyone and provides sun loungers and parasols for tourists to enjoy the fine weather with. Water sports are available for those who enjoy activities during the day including things like water skiing, jet skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing or you can hire a pedalo for an hour or two.

There is a small water park in the resort which is very popular with children because they can enjoy the slides and pool where as some of the water sports at the beach could be deemed a little too dangerous for them. The neighbouring resort of El Masnou offers an 18 hole golf course where those who do enjoy a game or two can hire equipment from the club house. You can also enjoy a trip to the cinema, bowling alley or a funfair whilst in Playa de Aro.

Boat excursions are another popular excursion to take advantage of, and with Barcelona a few miles down on the Costa Brava you can enjoy day trips in the huge cultural city. If you time your trip right you could pick up a ticket and watch the mighty FC Barcelona in action and enjoy world class football.

You can purchase top of the range electrical goods, fine clothes and souvenirs in the shops around Playa de Aro, though if you do take a day trip to Barcelona then you might choose to do your shopping in the wide variety there.

Playa De Aro - Food & Nightlife

There is a popular variety of food available in Playa de Aro that comes in the form of international cuisine like Spanish, Mexican, British, Italian and Chinese restaurants. While these places might be best suited for evening dining you will find plenty of fast food places to pick up midday meals for the family, or alternatively eat at your hotel.

You can find many bars which will offer music and karaoke for couples to enjoy a good night. As the resort is more in tune with families there will be more entertainment around the resort and in hotels aimed towards children.

Playa De Aro – Weather Info

The whole of the Costa Brava provides great weather during summer as well as the rest of the year and this is why Playa de Aro is such a popular holiday destination. The best months of summer are July and August where the day seems to have never ending sunshine and clouds seem nonexistent. You can expect temperatures to hit as high as 30°C, though it has been known for things to get as hot as 40°C at times over the peak months. Should you be unlucky to see any rain you can rest assured it will come and go before you notice a change.

Winters remain quite mild which is why Playa de Aro is a great place to visit throughout the whole year. The sun continues to shine, however clouds won’t be as scarce but still won’t be too prominent. January will experience the most rain though you can expect the weather to stay over 12°C. The temperatures will begin to rise once again as it enters spring.
