Antalya has been referred to as the Turkish Riviera because of its natural beauty and archaeological wealth. As you can imagine taking holidays to Antalya is a pleasant experience. Antalya is one of the most ancient cities of Turkey and many historians regard it as the birth place of human civilisation. The history of Antalya starts with the Pergamum King Attalus, who landed in the region having searched for a place of an earthly paradise. It is this “earthly paradise” that drives so many Europeans to take their holidays in Antalya.

The region has been inhabited ever since by ancient Anatolian civilizations such as Hittites, Lydians and Urartus followed later by the Greeks and then the Romans and more recently the Ottomans. Now the area has a new invader, the tourists who flock to their holidays in Antalya during the summer months. The city is located in the Mediterranean region, on the southern coast of Turkey named the “turquoise coast”, and is the capital of the Turkish province with the same name.
