Glyfada is a resort that appeals to many young groups of singles, couples and families. Those with small children or mobility difficulties may not find the resort quite so appealing as it is steep in areas. The transfer time from the airport into the resort is around 30 minutes, giving you just enough time to look around at the scenery that the resort offers and possibly gain a slight understanding of the location. The beach in Glyfada is attractive to tourists with is golden sands leading down to the waters edge. The beach itself is very long but you are warned to watch children at all times as the sea can get fairly rough when the westerly winds blow. You will find apartments, villas and hotels at Glyfada, all of which range from 2-4-stars. The apartments and villas are all self-catering where as the hotels are all half-board and all-inclusive.
Glyfada - plenty of beach activities to enjoy
Glyfada has attractive beaches and therefore some attractive water sports. The water sports available to you include windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding and parascending. There are a few local excursions for you to try such as visiting the traditional village of Pelekas, which offers brilliant views of the sunset which are a must-see, golf at Ermones or the eater park in Aghios Ioannis. If you enjoy shopping and sightseeing a lot then heading to Corfu Town is definitely recommended.
Glyfada - a few taverns to choose from
Although Glyfada has a few taverns to choose from for food, you will find that many people choose to stay and eat and the hotels as there is a wider choice available to them. The nightlife in the resort is quiet with a few discos, mainly located in the hotels and a few beach bars. The atmosphere of the whole resort is very relaxed meaning nightlife is not lively. Shopping is limited in Glyfada and you will only really find the necessities. Souvenir shops and supermarkets are available, however if you want more options then head to Corfu Town for clothing and other goods. Public transport is fairly limited other than 9 buses a day that take you into Corfu Town.
Glyfada Weather and Climate
There are around 300 days of sunshine in the resorts of Glyfada. Summer temperatures have been known to reach above 30°C, with the hottest month being July, closely followed by August. You will see around 13 hours of sunshine a day at peak times, with the temperatures remaining at a comfortable level thanks to the coastal breeze. December and January are colder, however temperatures are still at around 12-15°C. Rain only occurs in the winter months from November onwards. The summers in Glyfada are long, hot and dry, with September and October still seeing temperatures of around 25°C. The sea temperatures are quite warm in the summer but will cool down at night.
