There are plenty of water sports to choose from along the coast, such as scuba diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, jet-skiing and sailling. Capri is abrilliant place to take a boat trip to the Blue Grotto. Skiing in the Alps is always a popular activity, with a number of upmarket winter resorts to choose from. Hillwalking and climbing in the national parks is always popular as it is a great way to see the variety of wildlife that they have in Italy. Brown bears, wolves and eagles are just some of the animals that you will come across. The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa is definitely worth a visit. Visit wine cellars in Tuscany. The landscape of Tuscany is, typically, one of vine-covered hills, cypress woods, fields of sunflowers and remote hilltop villages. Chianti, the best-known Italian wine, is made in the area north of Siena, and several wine cellars are open to the public.

Italy – plenty of things to see and do

imageA must when staying in Italy is to go and visit the ancient city of Pompeii. The city is completely preserved after it was wiped off the map when Mount Vesuvius erupted. The city is a brilliant place to experience the history and culture of the Romans. The beaches are brilliant places to explore with a range of coves lining them. Relaxing on one of the golden beaches is also very popular. The Amalfi Coast is a must see, where you can drive through mountains and along curved roads, taking in spectacular sights. There are plenty of chances for you to go island hopping to places such as Capri or Ischia where you will find stunning beaches, shops and restaurants. Along the coast of Italy, you will also find a number of water sports available, such as windsurfing, scuba diving, snorkelling and parasailing. Skiing is a hugely popular activity in the Italian Alps and the Aosta Valley. Resorts such as Cervinia, La Thuile and Bardonechia are all popular ski resorts. There are many historical sites in Rome to see, such as the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. Vatican City is a brilliant place to see, with magnificent buildings such as the Vatican Palace and museum. Venice is another brilliant area to explore, with St Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace overlooking St Mark's Square. Turin is home to a fantastic Egyptian museum which is the second largest in the world after Cairo. In Milan, you can see Leonardo da Vinci's painting, The Last Supper. La Scala is the world capital of opera and is definitely worth visiting. In Genoa (Genova), the birthplace of Christopher Columbus, go and see the Galleria di Palazzo Bianco. It has an exceptional collection of paintings by Genoese artists. The Casa di Giulietta in Verona, known as Juliet's house from Romeo and Juliet, attracts thousands of visitors each year. Naples is brilliant for sight seeing and has plenty of museums for you to enjoy. Stand in the stunning Piazza del Campo in Siena, the shell-shaped heart of this walled medieval city in southern Tuscany. See it at its best early in the morning or at sunset. Sail to Sicily to see the remains of successive invading cultures. The most important ancient Greek sites include the temples of the Valle dei Templi at Agrigιnto, said to be better preserved than any in Greece itself. The catacombs at the Capuchin Monastery contain thousands of mummified bodies.

Italy – plenty of restaurants and cuisines to choose from

image Italy has a number of restaurants to choose from; some lining the beaches and others further into town. All of the restaurants are of a good quality and offer some brilliant cuisines to ensure that no one goes hungry. You will obviously find a lot of Italian food such as pizzas and pasta as well as a lot of seafood such as octopus or squid. When it comes to nightlife, it is fairly quiet. The main source of nightlife is the restaurants, cafιs and few bars. However, in Naples, you will find open-air discos and clubs to be enjoyed. Shopping in the area is brilliant with a very wide variety of clothing, both high street and designer up for grabs. You will also find souvenirs, craft shops, antique stores, and jewellery stores. Public transport is both efficient and reasonably priced in the form of taxis and buses.

Italy Weather and Climate

Italy has brilliant summers, with very warm temperatures and around 10 hours of sunshine a day. July and August are the warmest months with average temperatures of around 28°C. Coastal breezes also help to keep the levels of humidity down and keep you comfortable. In the evenings, the temperature only drops to around 19°C. Rainfall is very unlikely in the summer months making your holiday even more enjoyable. From may through to October, weather is very good with temperatures remaining above 20°C in the quieter months and 8 hours of sunshine a day from May to June and September to October.
