Kefalos is a resort that is suited to couples and families looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday to enjoy. People looking for a lively time will not find that in Kefalos. The transfer time for this resort is between 20-30 minutes meaning you can look around at scenery along the way and spend plenty of time in the resort itself. The beach in Kefalos is around 200 metres of golden sand leading down to the crystal clear waters edge. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols available for you to hire and a wide number of water sports for you to enjoy. There are also a number of popular beaches just outside the resort which many choose to enjoy. The accommodation in Kefalos mainly consists of hotels offering room-only or half-board. They are mostly within most peoples budgets however there are a few more expensive options.

Kefalos - plenty of beach and water based activities to enjoy

The beaches in Kefalos are very attractive and perfect for relaxing. However if you prefer more activity then why not try water sports such as snorkelling, surfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding, swimming, hiring pedalloes, going on banana boats or going on one of the many boat trips. There are also a number of local excursions for you to try such as exploring the resort and the others around it, going to see the monastery of St Ioannis and the 5th-century-BC archaeological site or going on one of the many boat trips to the volcanic island of Nissyros. Kos Town is also a must-see resort with more nightlife and a variety of activities and entertainment throughout the day.

Kefalos - a number of taverns to choose from

Kefalos is home to a number of taverns offering a variety of foods. All good in the resort is highly recommended, however the favourite has to be the traditional and local Greek cuisine. Seafood is also a popular option. If you prefer something more familiar, then there is plenty of British cuisine available as well as some brilliant fast food. Nightlife in Kefalos is not as lively as in some resorts, however there are still a number of bars offering Greek music and a few nightclubs for those of you who do want to dance the night away. Shopping in Kefalos is limited with a few mini markets and souvenir shops. If you are looking to do some more serious shopping while you are away then head to Kos Town for a much wider selection. Public transport in the resort consists of regular buses into Kos Town, a water taxi to Paradise and Marcos Beaches or hiring cars or bikes.

Kefalos Weather and Climate

Kefalos enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months in the resort with an average temperature of 25°C although this commonly rises to highs of well over 30°C. May is the official start to the summer with temperatures at 21°C which quickly rises to 25°C by June. There is normally no rainfall over July and August and the evenings remain hot at highs of 22°C. July and August see 12 hours of sunshine a day which drops to around 5 hours a day in the winter. Spring and Autumn are pleasant times to come if you are not keen on very hot weather, with temperatures mostly ranging between 16-20°C. Winters tend to be mild in Kefalos with temperatures staying at around 10°C. Between October and May you can expect to see some rainfall but not to the extent that we are used to. December if the wettest month in Kefalos, however it still tends to remain fairly warm.
