Kolymbia is a resort that caters to those looking for a low-key, relaxing holiday. The nightlife is not very energetic and therefore the resort is one for people looking for a sun and beach holiday. The accommodations have plenty of facilities to keep holiday makers entertained. The transfer time for this resort can be anything from 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on where in the resort you are staying and how you are getting there. Either way, you will have plenty of time to look around at the surrounding scenery as well as gain an understanding of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The main beach in Kolymbia is covered in golden sand and has a number of sunbeds and parasols available for you to hire. There is another beach which is smaller and quieter if you are looking to relax and get away from the water sports available at the main beach. Kolymbia has a number of hotels available, most of which are of a good standard. They mainly range from 2-4-stars and offer half-board or all-inclusive.

Kolymbia - a number of beach and water based activities to enjoy

Family on holiday Kolymbia has a brilliant beach to enjoy along with a number of water sports. The water sports available include windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, jet-skiing, taking out a pedallo, riding a banana boat, going on boat trips or even just swimming. Cycling is a popular land activity and is a good way of getting round the resort and taking in the sights. Nearby in Afandou there is an 18-hole golf-course to enjoy which is popular among most holiday makers. There are also a number of local excursions available to you including a trip to the village of Lindos or a trip to Rhodes Town for some brilliant shopping and sightseeing. Mt Tsambica is good for hiking and there are a number of places to go for fishing trips and Greek evenings. There is a full island tour to experience as well as boat trips to other islands and other resorts such as Rhodes Town of Lindos. The water park at Faliraki is a must-see on the island and is popular with people of all ages.

Couple on an all inclusive holiday Kolymbia is home to a number of restaurants mainly offering traditional Greek cuisine. You will also find a number of snack bars and some Italian food around the resort. Nightlife is fairly quiet with just a few bars and taverns to choose from. Most offer music and there is a disco to enjoy. Many of the hotels have entertainment programmes available for you to enjoy. There are mainly mini markets and souvenir shops in Kolymbia, however if you head to Rhodes Town, you will find a much greater choice. Public transport in the resort is fairly good with a bus service into Rhodes Town or car, motorbike or bicycle hire. Taxis are available but can be fairly difficult to find if they are not booked.

Kolymbia Weather and Climate

Kolymbia enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months in the resort with an average temperature of 25°C although this commonly rises to highs of well over 30°C. May is the official start to the summer with temperatures at 21°C which quickly rises to 25°C by June. There is normally no rainfall over July and August and the evenings remain hot at highs of 22°C. July and August see 12 hours of sunshine a day which drops to around 5 hours a day in the winter. Spring and Autumn are pleasant times to come if you are not keen on very hot weather, with temperatures mostly ranging between 16-20°C. Winters tend to be mild in Kolymbia with temperatures staying at around 10°C. Between October and May you can expect to see some rainfall but not to the extent that we are used to. December if the wettest month in Kolymbia however it still tends to remain fairly warm.
