If you are looking for a resort that is middle to upper class then Marbella might just be the place you are looking for. Based in the Costa del Sol region, Marbella is often known as a millionaire’s playground although you certainly don’t need bottomless pockets to enjoy the splendour of this fine Spanish resort. All kinds of holidaymakers travel to the coastal resort for its fine nightlife and it’s glorious and numerous beaches, many of which are manmade to accommodate the high volumes of tourists who come to Marbella every year.

The transfer time to Marbella from Malaga Airport will take around 50 minutes, but whilst this may seem like a short while it is a great chance to see the great natural scenery around the Costa de Sol.

If Marbella is seen to be short of something then it certainly isn’t choice of accommodation as there are plenty of hotels ranging between 3 to 5 stars as well as many luxury hotels. You will also find many fine villas on the coast that offer sublime views to wake up to every morning. Near to the city centre there are some apartment complexes to choose from, but all the accommodation in Marbella offer fine facilities for its residents.

There is a very reliable bus service in Marbella that runs along the coast and tourists can use this to explore the other resorts nearby in the Costa del Sol like Torremolinos and Malaga. You will find number of taxis roaming around that can be hailed and will be happy to take you around and they are reasonably priced. It is advised for families to get a hire car to be able to enjoy all the activities that are on offer in the region.

Family on holidayYou will have a great selection of beaches to choose from when you want to soak up the sun’s rays during the day, with more than enough for everyone. If you want a little more than to just enjoy the weather then you can try a horse ride though the resort or just on the beach itself. By heading down to the marina you will unlock a variety of great water sports to enjoy during the day, such as snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing, water skiing and sailing. The marina is full of private boats and many tourists keep them there and enjoy sailing in the summer months. Boat excursions are also available to go get great views of the mainland and to do some dolphin spotting too.

Golf is probably just as popular as sailing in Marbella and there are many courses to enjoy during your stay, whether you are looking to play through a few holes or have some fun playing chip and putt.

Perhaps you would like to spend your time exploring your surroundings by walking around the resort through the various districts in the area. You will find some superb scenery around Marbella and the landscape gardens in town provide an elegant feel to the area. It is always worth taking the short trip to Malaga to visit the Picasso museum where 200 examples of his genius are held, you can also enjoy the surroundings that gave him inspiration as an artist.

For those who enjoy shopping sprees then you certainly won’t be disappointed by what Marbella has on offer. There are many shops selling designer clothes, shoes and bags. You can pick up great jewellery also, though the jewel in Marbella crown has to be the Versace boutique which speaks for itself. Of course there will be plenty of souvenir shops to pick up mementoes of your holiday.

Marbella – Food & Nightlife

Couple on an all inclusive holiday Marbella is well prepared for tourism with plenty of great activities on offer and when you’ve worked up an appetite there will be many great places to choose from when you want some place to eat. You find restaurants serving fine American, Mexican, Spanish, British, Italian and Chinese cuisine. The price of dishes will range high and low between certain areas; Puerto Banus is one area particularly that can be expensive. There are also plenty of restaurants along the seafront serving fine paella dishes.

You can enjoy a very lively nightlife in Marbella with the choice of various bars and nightclubs to choose from. There are great bars along the sea front and in the town where you can enjoy cocktails and music through the night. If you plan to stay out a little later then you can go dancing in the many great nightclubs in Marbella too. You may spend a few euros’ enjoying the evening scene so come prepared.

Marbella Weather and Climate

Over the year Marbella averages a temperature of 19°C which is why many people head to the coastal resort during various months. In the summer months you can expect temperatures to average around 23°C and during this time you are likely to see no rain during your visit, just 10 hours of sun a day. The peak summer months of July and August have been known to treat tourists with temperatures as high as 30°C.

The winter time see’s a fall in temperature and the amount of sunlight experience during the day. The weather may be cooler but will never drop below 12°C and you will still be able to enjoy 6 hours of sunlight a day. You may see some rain, but very little and it always clears up fairly quickly so you can continue to enjoy your Marbella holiday.
