Messonghi is a low-key resort that would suit those looking for a relaxed holiday. Families and mature couples generally enjoy the resort as it is quiet and is not home to a manic nightlife unlike other resorts. The transfer time from the airport to the resort can be anything from 30 minutes to an hour and 30 minutes. This depends on whether or not you are travelling by taxi or coach and how many stops there are on your journey. On the plus side, you have plenty of time to look around at surrounding scenery and those of you on a longer transfer can get an idea of the location of the resort and the location of your accommodation within the resort. The beach in Messonghi is covered in sand that leads down to the waters edge. There are also a number of sunbeds and parasols for you to hire and shallow areas of water making the beach safe for children. There are a number of accommodations in Messonghi including self-catering apartments and half-board hotels. The accommodation ranges from 2-4-stars so suits everyone, even if you are on a tight budget.

Messonghi - a number of beach based activities

Messonghi activities are mainly restricted to the beach. The most popular activities are water sports which include windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, jet-skiing and water-skiing. Water sports are popular with people of all ages and are available everyday throughout the summer. Many people also choose to just spend their days relaxing by the beach and obviously, swimming in the sea. There are also a number of excursions for you to choose from such as various boat trips to other islands and beaches, an excursion to Aqualand in Ioannis Aghios, boat trips to Corfu Town for shopping and sightseeing or even go-karting in Moraitika.

Messonghi - number of restaurants for you to choose from

Messonghi is home to a small number of restaurants and taverns offering traditional Greek cuisine and a lot of seafood. There are a few Italian options, however the local Greek cuisine comes highly recommended. The nightlife in Messonghi is tame compared to other resorts as it is limited to a few bars and pubs. If you wanted a wider choice or a livelier nightlife then head to the neighbouring resort of Moraitika. Shopping in Messonghi offers the basics of souvenirs, jewellery, a bakery and a supermarket. Foreign exchange is available, however there are no banks or cash points. Public transport in the resort is actually quite good with buses stopping through Messonghi 6 times a day from Corfu Town and other nearby resorts. You can get to Moraitika, Corfu Town and Kavos by bus from the resort. Car hire is also available.

Messonghi Weather and Climate

There are around 300 days of sunshine in the resort of Messonghi. Summer temperatures have been known to reach above 30°C, with the hottest month being July, closely followed by August. You will see around 13 hours of sunshine a day at peak times, with the temperatures remaining at a comfortable level thanks to the coastal breeze. December and January are colder, however temperatures are still at around 12-15°C. Rain only occurs in the winter months from November onwards. The summers in Messonghi are long, hot and dry, with September and October still seeing temperatures of around 25°C. The sea temperatures are quite warm in the summer but will cool down at night.
