The accommodation found throughout the resort is suited towards couples as there are plenty of hotels that are quite small, though there are larger hotels for families travelling to the resort. Villas are a popular form of accommodation in Nerja too, though again this type of residency is popular with couples. You can expect all forms of accommodation to offer modern facilities to suit all travellers no matter where you choose to stay, though it is always worth investing a little of your own research beforehand.
You will find a very reliable bus service in Nerja that will take you to other popular resorts within the Costa del Sol such as Malaga, Marbella and Torremolinos. The service runs from early in the morning till the evening so tourists can enjoy long days in other areas.
Nerja – Fun & Activities
With 7 great beaches to choose from throughout Nerja you can choose to enjoy a whole variety of water sports that will be on offer, such as water skiing, jet skiing, surfing, windsurfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, canoeing or you can hire a pedal boat. Many holidaymakers appreciate fishing trips in the quiet surroundings.
A romantic option for couples is to take a ride on a horse drawn carriage and be whisked away to the various sites around the resort. Alternatively you can take the small tourist train which goes right through Nerja. The Balcony of Europe is a popular attraction with a reconstructed promenade and was once the setting for a 9th century castle. You can also take a trip to an underground cave system in the Cuevas de Nerja.
Whilst on your holiday you can enjoy plenty of shopping with various clothing and jewellery shops found around the resort, there’s even a market available every Tuesday morning. If you do decide to venture to the other popular resorts in the region you can then enjoy the various shopping and excursions on offer there, one thing worth noting is that Marbella has a its very own Versace boutique.
Nerja – Food & Nightlife
There are many great places to eat in Nerja but many tourists believe that the seafood dishes available are among the best available. Aside from seafood you will find plenty of popular international menus being served in the various Chinese, Indian, British, Greek and Italian restaurants found in Nerja. With such a wide variety on offer each and every tourist will find something they like.
As for evening entertainment you can expect the hotels in the region to provide a few lives acts, but as couples are the majority tourist there will be a few late bars where they can enjoy a drink or two. Nerja even has a few discos to enjoy a fun night of dancing that can last well into the next morning.
Nerja Weather and Climate
The weather in Nerja is very good and when visiting during the summer season you can expect the temperature to go as high as 30°C at times, this is great because you can experience around 10 hours of sunshine a day. The peak summer months for visiting fall over July and August.
Winter will of course be a little colder and temperatures will be around 15°C, but this means the weather will still be quite mild and worth visiting to avoid cold British winters. January is the coldest of the months and winter see’s the most rain but it will still tend to clear up fairly quickly.
