Playa de la Arena is located on the south west coast of Tenerife. Its beach is made up of black volcanic sand and looks very natural and appealing. It is a very quiet and relaxing beach resort in Tenerife making it perfect for older couples and families with children. There are black cliffs that offer great scenery for you to admire all day long. Like the rest of Tenerife, Playa de la Arena offers little coves that really maximise its character. The beach is perfectly clean and safe, making it ideal for children.

Playa de la Arena offers some brilliant water sports to try in the warm waters. Windsurfing, scuba diving and jet-skiing can all be tried here and full diving tuition is offered. Again, excursions are very popular as you can go and climb Mount Teide, visit the Aqua park, or go and visit the LoroParque. You can also take boat trips to go and get really good views of the cliffs at Los Gigantes. The cliffs offer amazing scenery as they just appear out of the water and from here you can go onto Los Gigantes to laze about on the beach.
Playa de la Arena - a natural resort
Playa de la Arena has been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness. This has been awarded to the beach for the past 18 years. It is important to know that as the resort is on the west coast of Tenerife, it can experience some strong underwater currents, so it is very important that children and weak swimmers are supervised at all times. Warning flags have been put up here to remind you. Pushchairs and wheelchairs may be difficult to use as there are a few steep hills in Playa de la Arena. There is a reliable bus service which is relatively cheap as well, which is good for people who have trouble walking long distances.
Playa De La Arena Weather and Climate
Playa de las Arena is home to wonderful weather. There are mild winters and 30C summers making it the perfect holiday destination for tourists. The water temperatures remain high throughout the year making it perfect for water sports. There is some rainfall in the winter but the weather still remains mild with temperatures rarely dropping below 15C.
