Out on the west coast of Tenerife you will find the calm and quiet resort of Playa De La Arena. The black, volcanic sand on the beach is very clean and safe for children, which makes this fantastic area very appealing to holidaymakers. The main type of tourists that this resort sees is couples and family groups.

The area that surrounds Playa Del La Arena is very picturesque with black cliffs that stand tall north along the coast. This scenery can be enjoyed on the great beaches also along the coast giving the area a very tranquil and relaxing feeling.

The transfer time from Tenerife South Airport will be around an hour and a half, and even possibly a little more. You can spend this time taking in the beautiful natural scenery of the island as well as trying to take note of your new surroundings.

You will find the accommodation in the area caters very well for families with the facilities and services they have. The rating of accommodation ranges from 3 to 5 stars throughout the area.

Playa De La Arena – Fun & Activities

The beach in Playa De La Arena is where the many couples and families on holiday here spend their time. You can relax in the calm atmosphere whilst the children play in the very safe and warm waters. There are some great waters sports to get involved with such as scuba diving and jet skiing, or you can try the most popular sport which is windsurfing.

Excursions are very popular throughout all of the Canary Islands, and it’s no different on Tenerife. With Mount Teide placed in the centre of the island you can take a cable lift up so far to experience some of the magnificent sights of the rest of the island. With special permission you can also climb to the very peak and enjoy the awesome view of the highest mountain in Spain.

A trip to Puerto De La Cruz will give you the chance to visit Loro Parque Zoo which is a huge animal park which children enjoy. Another place for the kids is Aqua Park which is also situated on the south coast.

Playa De La Arena – Food & Nightlife

You will find a wide range of great cuisine on offer in the Playa De La Arena resort. There are plenty of English style pubs which are popular as many of the tourists hail from the British Isles. You will find typical international cuisine in the Italian, Chinese and Canarian restaurants available. You will notice there are many fish orientated dishes on the menus due to the big fishing culture with many of the coastal resorts.

There is plenty of late night entertainment to be had in and around the Playa De La Arena resort. Families may choose to stick to their hotel entertainment at night because it is quieter than heading out. For those who do head out they will find plenty of bars offering music and a fairly late night, but to stay out a little later you could take a taxi to Los Gigantes and find a club to dance the night away.

Playa De La Arena Weather and Climate

Your stay in Playa De La Arena will be blessed with fantastic exotic weather where the temperatures during summer time soar as high as 30°C at times. The weather here benefits from being so close to African shores as the winds blows in from the Sahara desert which is why temperatures can get so high. There won’t be much rainfall coming from the summer months on your stay you’ll be happy to hear.

The winter period will see a little more rain, and of course the temperatures will be lower, around 15°C in fact. That still means that things are still quite warm inconsideration to other places to Europe. The temperatures will start to climb back up at around February, March time in preparation of summer coming round once again.
