Found along the coast of the Algarve the beautiful resort of Praia da Luz welcomes all kinds of tourists to its shores, from families, couples and groups or singles. Your transfer from Faro Airport will be at least an hour but it gives you a great opportunity to enjoy the fantastic natural scenery that the Algarve region of Portugal is blessed with. The beautiful beach in Praia da Luz is the perfect place to start relaxing on your holidays, with golden sands and warm waters there truly is no better place to unwind. The cliffs that overlook the beach are a fine place to get a great view of the vast Atlantic Ocean. Around the beach area you will have the chance to try some fun water sports such as jet skiing, water skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing and even paragliding.

Away from the beach there is still so much to see and do. The beauty of the town doesn’t just stop with the natural scenery you can also enjoy some sublime 16th century architecture with the towns Church. Nearby Lagos has plenty of historical sites also including two castles. Golf is the most popular activity within the vast region of the Algarve and you won’t ever be too far from a golf course where tourists are welcome to enjoy a few holes. Pleasant works around the resort are a good way to uncover fine restaurants and souvenir shops.

You will be able to join an excursion to Portugal’s capital Lisbon which is something that is very worthwhile. There you will be able to enjoy a great city with many fantastic buildings and shops. Shopping is something that you might want to invest in whilst in Lisbon as the choice and quality is much superior to that of Praia da Luz.

Praia da Luz – Food & Nightlife

There are plenty of options when you are looking to enjoy a fantastic meal on an evening. Choose from popular international cuisines in the British, Italian, Indian and Portuguese restaurants available. You will also find plenty of fine seafood and Tapas restaurants available to try. If you are on your feet exploring during the day you will find plenty of cafes around the town where you can pick up a quick snack.

Praia da Luz offers a fairly lively nightlife which appeal to the younger generation of tourists, there are plenty of bars that are open late, serve cocktails and provide live music. You will also find a couple of discos to enjoy as part of an extended night dancing until the morning.

Praia Da Luz Weather and Climate

The Algarve weather is one of its defining factors, and one of the key reasons people choose the region for their holidays time and time again. Praia da Luz is no exception to this and over the summer you should expect high temperatures that go up to and past 30°C at times. You can enjoy the heat without a cloud in the sky as the resort has an average of 12 hours of sunshine a day during summer. The peak summer months to come visit are July and August.

As for the rest of the months you won’t get anywhere near the warmth of summer, but it won’t ever be very cold at all. Between November and March Praia da Luz experiences the most rainfall during the year, but temperatures still won’t drop below 15°C and you should still expect 6 hours of sunshine a day. This type of weather during the autumn and winter months makes the resort a great one to visit at anytime of the year.
