The transfer time from Lanzarote Airport is a swift 20 minutes, which gives you a quick chance to see the mountainous area on your right hand side as you make your way to Puerto Calero. The volcanic origin of the island has shaped and scarred the landscape in places; this is something you will come to find.

This secluded resort offers some expensive and top class accommodations, with most hotels rated 4 to 5 star. Luxury villas are another form of accommodation and they offer things like private swimming pools, they do, however, come at a price.

Puerto Calero – Fun & Activities

Family on holiday With the area being fairly small and quiet there isn’t a vibrant lifestyle around the town, such is the family and couples tourism mindset of the town. You will, however, find some water sports available like windsurfing, going on a catamaran, snorkelling, scuba diving and even a submarine trip. If you fancy just relaxing on a beach, you will need to make the short journey over to Puerto Del Carmen where there is a large beach with plenty of room for everyone.

The island is full of many great excursions such as the Aqua Park in Costa Teguise and the Rancho Texas Park in Puerto Del Carmen. The most popular excursion is a trip to Timanfaya National Park where you can be amazed by the shapes dried larva has taken on the Earth’s surface, as well as trips into tunnels made by the magma during the last volcanic eruption centuries ago. You can also enjoy camel rides at the national park.

The resort of Puerto Calero is quite upmarket and so you will find quite a few boutiques and souvenir shops where you can purchase items for yourself such as jewellery and clothes, as well as a few local crafts as presents for friends and family back home.

Puerto Calero Weather and Climate

Located along the southern coast of the island helps the climate as it is this region that Lanzarote's best weather is enjoyed. In the summer months holidaymakers can expect to get temperatures around 28°C and next to no rain.

Winter is much milder of course but still warm weather remains, though temperatures and hours of sunlight will be halved compared to the peak summer months. Come February you can expect to see temperatures climbing once again reaching around 20°C.
