With views that look onto the Atlantic Ocean many couples and families find that Puerto de Santiago is a great place to sit back and relax coupled with great views and naturally scenic areas. This island has volcanic origins, much like the rest of the Canary Islands, and it is evident with the black sands on some of its beaches.

The transfer time tourists can expect will be between an hour and hour and a half till you finally reach Puerto de Santiago.

The accommodation available averages at 3 stars and most will provide mainly for families rather than large groups. The quiet ambience of the area isn’t the only option people have when visiting Puerto de Santiago, a bit north you will find Los Gigantes and a little south Playa la Arena.

Puerto de Santiago – Fun & Activities

You will find tennis, squash and volleyball courts as well as bowls areas. With the resort being coastal you can expect there to be many water based excursions and you can take up scuba diving, jet skiing, windsurfing and snorkelling.

You can visit some of the popular attractions like Loro Park where there are marine life in captivity like the playful dolphins. You can head to Aquapark where there are slides, rides and swimming pools for all to enjoy. These two are few amongst the many excursions you can take up when in Puerto de Santiago. At many ports you will be able to take a ferry to the neighbouring Canary Islands to explore further and take in even more sights on your holiday, plus you can shop in different areas so you might be able to pick up things for yourself that you might not have been able to otherwise.

Puerto de Santiago – Food & Nightlife

The nightlife is very low key and this ties in with the fact the resort is more for families and couples looking to relax in tropical scenery, though should you want to party long into the night then Tenerife’s Playa de las Americas will suit you down to the ground. The resort is some way south of Puerto de Santiago, however, there will be many bars and clubs on offer.

The southern resorts of Tenerife enjoy the best of the islands weather and even more so when the warm winds from northern Africa blow over which can make temperatures go as high as 40°C during the summer season.

There is little rain in Puerto de Santiago during any season of the year which makes it a fantastic place to visit at any time of the year. The surrounding waters stay warm throughout the year also which gives tourists things to do if they aren’t travelling during peak season.
