Families and couples are attracted to the resort all year round, however in the summer months, the resort is full of young groups of singles who are up all night. The transfer time is around 1 hour so you can look at the scenery of Gran Canaria while you are travelling. The beach at Puerto Rico is man made and very popular with tourists. The beach is made up for fine, white sand and the water is clear and calm. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols but it does get very busy very quickly. Most of the accommodation in Puerto Rico consists of apartments offering a self-catering board basis and rating 2-3-stars. There are a few hotels in the resort, which generally are of good quality.

Puerto Rico is full of activities for everyone to try. There are many water sports available such as windsurfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling and sailing. If you are the sort of person that prefers staying on dry land, then you can try tennis, mini-golf or even bowling. A very popular activity is the Aqua park. There are also plenty of excursions that you can try such as a camel safari, a Jeep safari or a trip to the Crocodile theme park.
Puerto Rico - plenty of exciting nightlife
You are spoilt for choice with the amount of restaurants available in Puerto Rico. Everyone is able to afford the food and drinks and there are many cuisines on offer, so everyone is catered for. You will find Canarian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican and German cuisines as well as a lot of seafood and many fast food American restaurants. There is a wide choice of bars offering live music, entertainment, karaoke and cocktails. Most bars and clubs are open until late so you can stay up all night having a good time if you choose to. Many of the apartments have evening entertainment and you will find that a lot of them have pool parties at night to amuse the young groups. There are plenty of shops for you to try in Puerto Rico. You will find clothing, jewellery, electrical goods, souvenirs, cosmetics and perfumes. Public transport in the area is very good, with many buses taking you to other resorts located on the coast such as Las Palmas. Taxis are also available and generally offer cheap fares.
Puerto Rico Weather and Climate
Puerto Rico is located in the south west, and it sees the best weather in Gran Canaria. It is very dry and hot in Puerto Rico with very little rainfall. The summer temperatures are around 28°C in August and September, with January and February still reaching over 22°C. There is rarely any rain in the south as it is so warm and dry. The north will see most of the rain, however the winds from the north do sweep down to the south, however this is welcomed as it keeps the temperatures stable. The rain normally falls between December and February but you still tend to get around 7 hours of sunshine a day. In the summer you will get around 12 hours of sunshine a day so there is plenty of time to have fun in the sun.
