Punta Umbria Overview

Punta Umbria Holidays from CheapHolidays.com.

The resort of Punta Umbria is ideal for those quiet calm getaways in great coastal surroundings and hot weather, and it’s that reason why the area is so popular with families and couples as a holiday destination. There is about 8 miles of beautiful golden sand to enjoy with plenty of sun loungers, umbrellas and beach side showers for tourists to take advantage of. The beach itself has been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness which makes things perfect for children to play around in.

Your transfer will most probably be from San Pablo Airport which is in Seville a few miles north, and you can expect it to take around one and a half hours to reach Punta Umbria. However, during this time you will be driving through some picturesque countryside that appears untouched by the masses of tourism that tends to dominate areas of Spain. You could also use this time to become a little more familiar with your surroundings.

There are plenty of hotels available in the region and you can expect the star ratings to average around 3 stars. There are also a lot of villas throughout Punta Umbria which are very popular with tourists and some of the more expensive ones are located along the seafront.

You will find a good local transport system and the buses will take people to neighbouring resorts along the coast. There’s a taxi service which can be very useful to get around unfamiliar territory.

Horse riding is available which is popular with families and is great for beginners and experienced riders.

Take an excursion to nearby Huelva that has plenty of historical monuments to see as well as many great opportunities to enjoy Spain's unique nature sites. A bit further away is the Donana National Park which has great wildlife exhibits.

You can expect to find great international cuisines in the many British, American, Italian, Spanish and Chinese restaurants available. You can find many cafes to pick up snacks during the day.

Despite having a family feel to the resort Punta Umbria provides a pretty good nightlife. There are lots of bars that offer live music or DJ’s to enjoy drinks with, and after that you will have the choice of quite a few late discos that will be open very late. You will also find a cinema if you perhaps aren’t too interested in a late night on the town.

Punta Umbria Weather and Climate

Punta Umbria is graced with some fantastic weather over the summer, and the popularity it has over that period is testament to how good it actually is. The hottest temperatures will be 30°C and that will come most likely during August. With long days of sunshine during this period you will appreciate the cool breezes that blow in from the Atlantic Ocean. You will rarely see cloud in the sky at this time, nor will you experience any long lasting rain if any at all.

Winter still offers warm temperatures that rarely drop below the 10°C which makes the place an all year round destination. It is more likely to sea rain over the winter period, but it still shouldn’t last too long and generally does clear up quick enough. At the start of the New Year temperatures will once again climb up, and will gradually do so till summer comes back around.
