With so much to see and do, set in such beautiful surroundings you will be forgiven for not wanting to leave. In terms of getting around, whether your preferred mode of transport is a camel ride to quad biking there’s a way of travel for everyone. What To Do In The Red Sea

Islands in the Red Sea

Red Sea holidays are famed for their diving; there are courses for all levels and instructors who speak a variety of languages and you can even get a PADI, CMAS, or SDI qualification. You will experience some of the finest coral reefs and a wealth of underwater sea life, so don’t forget your swimsuit and snorkel. If you prefer a more leisurely holiday then why not visit some of the natural wonders such as Mount Sinai, with a biblical reference to when Moses spent 40 days and nights. You will be able to scale the 7.500ft to the summit via foot or camel and be sure to stay for the amazing sunset. If climbing isn’t your thing, you can also try a fishing safari out to sea or kite surfing in the desert which is sure to set pulses racing. If you have spent your energy after all of that you can also chill out on the beach and Terrazzina comes highly recommended.

Eating, Shopping And Going Out

Coral Reef in the Red Sea

As with any destination in the Middle East, you will need to abide by local customs. Drinking alcohol is confined to restaurants and bars and you should dress modestly in public. However this does not mean that you cannot have lots of fun on your Red Sea holiday, made possible by the sheer friendliness and generosity of the local people.

The Food is amazing with seafood highly recommended and readily available at the majority of restaurants and hotels. You can however always find familiar tastes close by such as the Pomodoro in Sharm, traditional Italian and other home comforts including Indian or the famous ‘Scales and Ales’ fish and chips. If you’re feeling adventurous, try a convenient selection of Egyptian dishes at the Felfela chain of restaurants. There are also amazing local restaurants among the many bazaars dotted around each city.

As mentioned there are a variety of excursions to try in Egypt, including day trips to Cairo where you can see the infamous Giza Necropolis known as the ‘Great Pyramids’ or the ‘Valley of the Kings’ in Luxor which is also home to the must see ‘Karnak Temple’.

Weather and Climate

On your vacation to the Red Sea be sure to pack light clothing as temperatures range between an average maximum of 35 degrees C in summer which is normally in June. If you prefer a cooler climate, aim to travel around Oct-Dec when the average temperature is around 14 degrees C.

Some areas can experience years without rain, and suddenly receive downpours that result in flash floods, so check the weather before you travel and be sure to pack appropriate sun protection and medical supplies.

However the chance of rain is pretty minimal on the whole and the all year round hot climate makes Red Sea Holidays appealing at any time of the year.
